Notification of Changes or Cancelations
Changes or cancelations of bookings should be communicated to the Brienz Rothorn Railway in person, by phone or in writing.
Natural Disasters
The Brienz Rothorn Railway operates in an extreme environment where weather and natural events are to be respected. Unexpected events such as flooding, unseasonal snow and landslips occur. When such events occur and the safety of passengers is at risk the Brienz Rothorn Railway reserves the right to cancel services at short notice. In such cases alternative bookings will be offered or a cancelation will be agreed. In the event of cancelation all payments will be refunded and the Brienz Rothorn Railway will not be liable for any further claims.
Cancelation Penalties
Cancelations less than 14 days prior to date of travel incur the following penalties:
Transportation (railway)
Up to 7 days before arrival Cancellation free of charge
7 to 4 days before arrival 50% of total price (based on normal tarifs) of the reserved places.
Later cancellation or no show 100 % of total price (based on normal tarifs) of the reserved places.
Restaurant (Mountain Hotel Kulm)
Up to 7 days before arrival Cancellation free of charge
Later cancellation:
If meals such as half-board or special banquets are also booked for groups (of 10 people or more), the restaurant will pass on to you the costs already incurred for purchasing and transport.
Accommodation (Mountain Hotel Kulm)
Up to 72 hours before arrival Cancellation free of charge
Later cancellation 100% of the room price.
In the case of group bookings of more than 10 people, where meals, breakfasts, or special services have been planned, the restaurant reserves the right to bill for costs incured. These costs may include transport, time and merchandise.
The calculated time of cancelation is the moment of notification arrival at the Brienz Rothorn Railway booking office. Please note that Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays will be calculated from the next working day.
