2026 season
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you aboard soon. Our steam locomotives and cars have been carefully maintained during their overhaul—and are ready for a new, unforgettable season.
Starting Saturday, May 9, 2026, we will begin operating trips to the Planalp midway station. Starting Saturday, June 6, 2026, service will resume all the way up to Rothorn Kulm.
We look forward to seeing you—and to everything the 2026 season has in store for our guests!
Steinli & Eichi's Adventures
Two little adventurers, a vast mountain world: In *Steinli’s Discovery*, children accompany a young ibex on its first brave journey to the Rothorn Kulm. In *Eichi’s Wonder Machine*, the curious squirrel Eichi follows the mysterious steam train—and discovers the wonders of the Brienz Rothorn Railway along the way.
Lovingly illustrated by Markus Flück, a sculptor from Brienz—whose figures can also be found as real wooden signposts at the summit of the Rothorn—and written in lively prose by author Corinne Schmidhauser.
Both volumes will soon be available in German and English—at the Mountain hotel Rothorn Kulm online.
Charging station for electric vehicles
Our parking deck is equipped with several charging stations for electric vehicles so that you can charge your vehicle conveniently during your visit to Brienz Rothorn Railway . Our modern charging stations are available around the clock and are located at Trachtlistrasse 2 in Brienz (5 minutes' walk from the valley station).

We are part of the Swisstainable sustainability program and are classified as Level II - engaged. The Swisstainable sustainability programme brings together businesses and organizations across the entire Swiss tourism sector. By participating in the program, we commit ourselves to continuous sustainable corporate development, pursue measures in the area of sustainability and thus make a concrete contribution to sustainable Swiss tourism. We would like to strengthen this attitude in the future.
